There are unfortunately few rules on what can be put into pet food. Premium dog food manufacturers advertise that they exceed industry standards. It’s not hard!
What ingredients are actually in dogfood? It’s hard to tell from the label description. Bonemeal sounds natural, but it includes slaughterhouse waste products (putting it delicately), and can even be from animals who were diseased.
Many pet foods are cooked at ultra-high temperatures, to kill the high levels of bacteria present in their ingredients. This temperature also kills the nutrients. Vitamins and minerals are then (sometimes) added in afterwards. It makes for a highly processed meal.
Most pet food has no visibly identifiable ingredients, as it’s all compressed and dried, or blitzed into sludge. No wonder your dog would rather eat whatever’s on the dinner table.
‘Human-grade’ means it’s recognisably food, for a start. It promises higher quality and safety.
Real food has nutrients that are more easily absorbed. This leads to better digestion, a shiny coat, energy, good health and longer life.
We cook in a normal kitchen, not in a processing plant. We use normal temperatures. All our ingredients are listed honestly, with no misleading chemical names, labels or numbers.
We use premium meats, vegetables and fruits. We shop ethically, so we only use free range eggs. Nothing goes in our meals that isn’t human quality food. That’s the path to a healthier, happier, longer life.
